Indian freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak praised the celebration of Sarvajanik Ganesha Utsav in his newspaper, Kesari, and dedicated his efforts to launch the annual domestic festival into a large, well-organised public event. By doing so, he transformed the traditional Ganapati festival of Maharashtra into a National festival. Its main purpose was to bring people from different classes and castes together to unite them against the British rule.

The Narkelberia Uprising: Syed Mir Nisar Ali, or Titu Mir (1782-1831) led the Narkelberia Uprising in 1831 — often considered the first armed peasant uprising against the British. Titu Mir resisted the oppression of the local zamindars and European indigo planters on the peasantry with ultimate object of liberating the country from British domination. He was a leader of the tahriq -i-muhammadiya in Bengal, and his movement initially aimed at socio-religious reforms, elimination of the practice of shirk (pantheism) and bidat (innovation) in the Muslim society and at inspiring the Muslims to follow Islamic principles in their day to day life.

• River Musi is a tributary of river Krishna. Seonath, Mand, Ib, Hasdeo are left-bank tributaries of Mahanadi while Ong, parry, Jonk, Telen are its right-bank tributaries.

• The Mahanadi is a major river in East Central India. It drains an area of around 141,600 square kilometres and has a total course of 858 kilometres.

• Hirakud Dam is located on this river. The river flows through the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

• These seven countries are- Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan. These are countries surrounding the Bay of Bengal.

• It was formed in 1997. The organization has targeted fourteen priority sectors of cooperation.

• Its secretariat is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh and Tenzin Lekphell of Bhutan is its present Secretary-General.

• There are 14 main sectors of BIMSTEC along with technological and economic cooperation among South Asian country members.

• Out of these 14 sectors, India leads four sectors-

o Transport and Communication

o Tourism

o Counterterrorism and Transnational Crime

o Environment and disaster management

The sun's rays (ultraviolet rays) convert the ergosterol present in the skin into vitamin D. The chemical name of Vitamin-D is calciferol. It is a fat soluble vitamin.
