    In an examination there are 30 questions. 1 mark is given for each correct answer and 0.25 marks is deducted for each incorrect answer. Ajay attempted all the questions and scored 13.75 marks. How many incorrect answers did he answered?
    Solutions
    Let the number of questions attempted by Ajay with correct answers be x. Then, total marks obtained for correct answers = x × 1 = x
    And the number of questions attempted by Ajay with incorrect answers = 30 – x.
    Total marks deducted for incorrect answers = (30 – x)/4
    Now, x – (30 – x)/4 = 13.75
    Or, 4x + x = 13.75 × 4 + 30 = 55 + 30 = 85
    5x = 85
    x = 85/5 = 17
    Incorrect answers = 30 – 17 = 13

    60 liters of mixture contains milk and water in the ratio of 2:3. How much milk should be added so that the ratio of milk and water in the new mixture be 6:5?
    Solutions
    Let the quantity of milk be added be x
    Amount of milk in the mixture= 60*2/5= 24 liters
    Amount of water in the mixture= 60-24= 36 liters
    So,
    24+x/36= 6/5
    120+5x= 216
    5x= 96
    x= 19.2 liters
