The number of females in company B is what percent of the number of males in company A?

    Solutions

The number of males in company B = 360

    The sum of the number of males in company A, B and C = 290 × 3 = 870

    The number of males in company C = 870 – 360 – 250 = 260

    The number of females in company A = 250 – 50 = 200

Let the number of females in company B be 7x.

The number of females in company C = 8x

According to the data provided in the question, we get:

    200 + 7x + 8x = 800

    ⇒ 15x = 600

    ⇒ x = 40

    The number of females in company B = 7 × 40 = 280

    The number of females in company C = 8 × 40 = 320

  • Question 3/10
    1 / -0.25

Find out the wrong term in the series

    6, 4, 5, 9, 20, 52.5, 160.5

    Solutions

The pattern of the series is:

    7 × 0.5 + 0.5 = 4

    4 × 1 + 1 = 5

    5 × 1.5 + 1.5 = 9

    9 × 2 + 2 = 20

    20 × 2.5 + 2.5 = 52.5

    52.5 × 3 + 3 = 160.5

Hence, the wrong number is 6.

  • Question 4/10
    1 / -0.25

In the following series one number is wrong, Find the wrong number in the series.

    6, 12, 24, 46, 74, 116

    Solutions

The pattern of the series is:

    6 + 2+ 2 = 12

    12 + 3+ 3 = 24

    24 + 4+ 4 = 44

    44 + 5+ 5 = 74

    74 + 6+ 6 = 116

Hence, the incorrect number is 46.

  • Question 5/10
    1 / -0.25

In the given series, one number doesn't fit the pattern. Find the wrong number that doesn't fit the pattern.

    3, 41, 64, 82, 88, 95, 94

    Solutions

    Pattern of the series is:

    3 + 62 + 2 = 41

    41 + 52 − 2 = 64

    64 + 42 + 2 = 82

    82 + 3− 2 = 89

    89 + 2+ 2 = 95

    95 + 12 − 2 = 94

  • Question 6/10
    1 / -0.25

Find the wrong term in the given series:

    442, 218, 106, 50, 20, 8, 1

    Solutions

The pattern of the series is:

    (442 – 6) × 0.5 = 218

    (218 – 6) × 0.5 = 106

    (106 – 6) × 0.5 = 50

    (50 – 6) × 0.5 = 22

    (22 – 6) × 0.5 = 8

    (8 – 6) × 0.5 = 1

Hence, the incorrect number is 20.

  • Question 7/10
    1 / -0.25

Find out the wrong term in the series

    79, 50, 37, 30, 26.5, 24.75

    Solutions

The pattern of the series is:

    79 – 28 = 51

    51 – 14 = 37

    37 – 7 = 30

    30 – 3.5 = 26.5

    26.5 – 1.75 = 24.75

Hence, the wrong number is 50.

  • Question 8/10
    1 / -0.25

In the following number series, only one number is wrong. Find out the wrong number.

    3, 8, 29, 154, 923, 6460

    Solutions

The pattern of the series is:

    3 × 3 – 1 = 8

    8 × 4 – 1 = 31

    31 × 5 – 1 = 154
    154 × 6  – 1 = 923
    923 × 7  – 1 = 6460

Hence, the wrong number is 29.

  • Question 9/10
    1 / -0.25

The average age of a family of 13 members is 24 years. If the age of the youngest member of the family is 12 years. Then the average age of the members of the family just before the birth of the youngest member was?

    Solutions

    Sum of the age of 13 members = 13 × 24 = 312 years

    Total age of 12 members, 12 years ago = 312 – (12 × 12 + 12) = 156 years

    Required average = 156/12 = 13 years

  • Question 10/10
    1 / -0.25

The simple interest on a sum of money will be Rs. 600 after 10 years. If the principal is made 4 times after fifth year, what will be the total interest at the end of the tenth year?

    Solutions

    S.I. for 1 year = 600/10 = Rs. 60

    Therefore, S.I. for 5 years = 60 × 5 = Rs. 300

Now, as per the question if the principal is made four times, the interest will also become four times.

    Therefore, S.I. for next 5 years = 60 × 5 × 4 = Rs. 1200

    Hence, total interest after 10 years = 300 + 1200 = Rs. 1500
