* RBI permitted the Small Finance Banks’ (SFBs) lending to Micro-Finance Institutions (MFIs) for on-lending to individuals under the classification of priority sector lending (PSL) for which the MFIs need to have Rs 500 crore asset size

* Currently, the SFB’s PSL is not permitted for MFIs for on-lending.

* This facility is made to be available up to March 31, 2022.

• The Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education has launched a scheme today to train and mentor young authors.

• Termed YUVA (Young, Upcoming and Versatile Authors), the Prime Minister’s scheme seeks to mentor authors under the age of 30 and train them to promote reading, writing and book culture in the country, and project India and Indian writings globally.

• A consolidated scholarship of Rs50,000 per month for a period of six months per author will be paid under the YUVA Scheme.

• Net FPI inflows recorded an all-time monthly high of US$ 9.8 billion in November 2020, which was five times its previous year value

• Kurnool airport will bring the region closer to major hubs in South India by providing direct flight operations to Bangalore, Vishakhapatnam and Chennai.

• Kurnool is the 6th airport in Andhra Pradesh to become functional after Kadapa, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Rajahmundry & Vijayawada.

• The 8th triennial conference of the International Nitrogen Initiative (INI) held virtually from May 31-June 3, 2021, with a main focus on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

• Germany’s Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt–UBA) hosted the conference for the 1st time since its inception. The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety is supported the UBA.

• the Administration Council of Jammu & Kashmir(J&K) under the chairship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha approved the incorporation of Ratle Hydro-electric Power Corporation, a joint venture company (JVC), to implement 850 MW Ratle Hydro-Electric Project (HEP) on river Chenab in Kishtwar district.

• The authorised capital of the JVC is Rs 1,600 crore with initial paid-up capital of Rs 100 crore.

• Out of the paid-up capital, J&K State Power Development Corporation Ltd (JKSPDCL) will contribute Rs 49 crore as initial equity.

• The MoU to execute the project was signed between the Government of J&K, JKSPDCL and NHPC on 3rd January 2021.

• The JVC will develop the 850 MW Ratle HEP at an estimated cost of Rs 5,281.94 crore.
