In the following questions, two statements numbered I and II are given. On solving them, we get quantities I and II respectively. Solve for both the quantities and choose the correct option.
Quantity I: What is the simple rate of interest if a certain amount becomes 150% of itself in 8 years?
Quantity II: Vinod invested Rs 50000 in a bank which offers compound rate of interest and got Rs 56180 after 2 years. What is the rate of interest?
If the cost price, marked price and the selling price are in the ratio of 3 : 5 : 4 then what is the discount and profit % respectively?
Quantity I: How many Engineers are there in the company such that if 12 engineers leave, 4/5th of the original number of Engineers remains in the company?
Quantity II: What is the age(in years) of Vikas if 2 years ago his age was twice that of Manoj at that time? The present age of Manoj is 30 years.
Quantity - I
Let total number of Engineers in the company be x
x−12=4x/5
x=60
Quantity - II
Two years ago, age of Manoj =(30−2) years =28 years
Age of Vikas 2 years back =(2×28) years =56 years
So, present age of Vikas =(56+2) years =58 years
Hence, the correct option is (A).
Average of A and B is 72, average of B and C is 78, and the average of C and D is 80. What is the average of A and D?
A+B=72×2=144…(i)
B+C=78×2=156…( ii )
C+D=80×2=160…(iii)
Adding equations (i) and (iii) and subtracting equation (ii):
A+D=148
Average of A and D=148/2=74
Hence, the correct option is (B).
In a jar of 60 L juice, the ratio of syrup and water 2:1. To make this ratio 1:2, what quantity of water should be further added?
Quantity of syrup =(60×2/3)L=40L
Amount of water in it =(60−40)L=20L
New ratio =1:2.
Let x L of water is to be added further
Then ratio =40 / (20+x)=1:2
Or, 80=20+x
Or, x=60.
Find the wrong term in the series given below.
34, 50, 98, 172, 290, 434
The pattern is as follows:
34 + 16 x 1 = 50
50 + 16 x 3 = 98
98 + 16 x 5 = 178
178 + 16 x 7 = 290
290 + 16 x 9 = 434
There are two types of Rice, Rice A and Rice B whose prices are Rs 15/kg and Rs 30/kg respectively. In what ratio must A and B be mixed so on selling the mixture at Rs 25/kg we get a profit of 25%?
cost price of the mixture =2/51.25=Rs20/kg
Now the required ratio of A and B,AB=(30−20) / (20−15)=2:1
Hence, the correct option is (D).
If the length of a rectangle is increased in the ratio 7:9 and its breadth is decreased in the ratio 6:5, then its area will be increased in the ratio _______.
Let the initial length of the rectangle be 7x
Length after increase =9/7×7x=9x
Let the initial breadth of the rectangle be 6x
Breadth after decrease =5/6×6x=5x
Therefore the required ratio =7x(6x):9x(5x)=14:15
Quantity I: What is the value of the number if 125% of the number is 13 greater than 77?
Quantity II: 50% of a number is 20% less than 80 then what is the value of the number?
Let the number = N
According to the question; 1.25N = 77 + 13
=>N = 72
According to the question; 0.5N = 80 X 0.8
=>N = 128
1, 6, 44, 336, 3024, 30240
1 x 6 = 6
6 x 7 = 42
42 x 8 = 336
336 x 9 = 3024
3024 x 10 = 30240
