    Distance between M and N is 516 km. Rohan and Sohan start from M and N respectively at 9 o’clock towards each other. Speed of Sohan is 15% more than Rohan. At the point of meeting what will be the difference between the distance covered by M and N?

    Solutions

    Let the ratio of the speed of Rohan and Sohan is 100:115

    i.e. 20:23

    Since they will meet in the same time,

    ∴ The distances covered will be proportional to their speeds.

    So, (23 + 20) → 516

    ⇒ 43→516 ⇒ 1→12

    ∴ Difference of distance covered by M and N = 3×12 = 36 km

    Rs 13450 are to be distributed between B and A such that B gets Rs 3400 less than A. The ratio of the amount received by A to that received by B is

    Solutions

    Let the amount received by A is Rs A.

    Then, amount received by B = Rs (A – 3400)

    Given, A + B = Rs 13450

    A + (A – 3400) = 13450

    A = 8425; B = 5025

    Required ratio = 8425 : 5025 = 337 : 201

    A, B and C can complete work separately in 24, 36 and 48 days respectively. They started together but C left after 3 days of start and A left 3 days before the completion of the work. In how many days will the work be completed?

    Solutions

    Let the LCM of 24, 36 and 48 is the total work = 144

    So the efficiency of A, B and C are 6, 4, 3 respectively.

    Work done by by all three  in first 3 days = (6+4+3) ×3= 39 units

    Work done by B in last 3 days = 4×3= 12 units
    Remaining work = 144-39-12 = 93

    Remaining work done by A and B in = 93/10

    Time required to complete the work = 93/10 + 3 + 3 = 153/10 days

    Profit = 25%, Discount = 20%

    Selling Price = 12000 + 12000 × 25% = Rs. 15000

    List Price = 15000 × (100/80) = Rs. 18750

    A cross is made by joining 5 equal square of side 5 cm. What is the perimeter of the cross?

    Solutions

    As we can see middle square has its all side covered, while all other has one side covered.
