What will come in place of the question mark (?) in the following questions?

    48% of ? + 95 = 359

    Solutions

    48% of ? + 95 = 359
    ⇒ (48/100) × ? = 359 – 95 = 264
    ⇒ ? = 264 × (100/48) = 550

Bina scored 110 marks in English, 135 marks in Science, 140 marks in Mathematics, 120 marks in Hindi and 115 marks in Social studies. The maximum marks a student can score in each subject is 150. How much approximate percentage marks did Bina get in this exam?

    Solutions

    Maximum marks that Bina can score = 150 × 5 = 750
    Bina’s Total score = 110 + 135 + 140 + 120 + 115 = 620
    % marks = 620/750 = 82.66% = 83% (Approx)

  • Question 7/10

Due to excessive demand of the match, manager of the stadium increased the prices of tickets in all the three categories. 25% in first class, 12.5% in special class and 40% on lower class. If total collection of a match was Rs. 218925, then find the collection from lower class only. Given that the ratio of the price of 1 ticket for first class, special class and lower class is 5:9:14?

    Solutions

Since nothing is told about the selling of tickets in the question or the number of persons buying the tickets for different classes, therefore, we can't say anything about the collection from lower class.

    Hence the data is insufficient.

  • Question 8/10
    1 / -0

At present, B's age is 2.5 times the age of A. Also C's present age is 4.5 times the age of A. After 2.5 years, age of C will become 1.75 times of that of B, what is the present age of A?

    Solutions

Let the present age of A is x years, then

The present age of B and C are 5x/2 years and 9x/2 years respectively.

    After 2.5 years

    Age of A = (x + 2.5) years

    Age of B = (2.5x + 2.5) years

    Age of C= (4.5x + 2.5) years

    According to question

    After 2.5 years

Age of C = 1.75 times of age of B

    (4.5x + 2.5) = 1.75× (2.5x + 2.5)

    On solving, we get

    x = 15

    Hence, the present age of A = x years = 15 years

  • Question 9/10

What approximate value should come in place of the question mark (?) in the following question? (Note: You are not expected to calculate the exact value)

    57% of 398 – 2.5% of 996 =?

    Solutions

    By Approximation,
