We know
If N =x^a×y^b×z^c
Where x,y,z are prime numbers
No of factors = (a+1) x (b+1)x(c+1)
Given
5^11+5^12+5^13+5^14 =5^11 (1+5+5^2+5^3 )
=5^11×156=5^11×2^2×3×13
offactors=(11+1)×(2+1)×(1+1)×(1+1)=144
A takes three times as long as B and C together take to do a job. B takes four times as long as A & C together to do the work. If all the three working together can complete the job in 24 days, then the number of days, A alone will take to finish the job is?
3/a=1/b+1/c (i)
4/b=1/a+1/c (ii)
1/a+1/b+1/c=1/24 (iii)
From (i) & (ii)
4/a=1/24
A=96 days
Base of a prism of height 15 cm is square. Total surface area of the prism is 432. Sq. cm. The volume of the prism is :-
Let the side of square = a cm
TSA = CSA + 2 x base area
Base perimeter x h + 2 x base area
432 = 4a x 15 + 2a^2
=>2a^2+60a-432=0
a^2+36a-6a-216=0
(a-6)(a+36)=
a=6,-36
a=6
Volume = base area x h
=6^2*15=540cm3
The price of product after getting 10% discount is 9450 which includes 5% tax on selling price. What was the marked price (in Rs) of the product?
If MP is x Rs then after 10% discount value of the product will be 0.90x
But there is 5% tax on selling price which is also included in the price of the product.
5% of 0.9x = 0.045x
Net value of the product 0.945x=9450 x=10000
What must be added to each term of the ratio 9 : 5 so as to make it equal to 4 : 3?
Let the terms are 9x & 5x
(9x+y)/(5x+y)=4/3
27x +3y=20x+4y
7x=y
it cannot be solved further. it cannot be determined
A’s income is 75% of B’s income and A’s expenditure is 60% of B’s expenditure. If A’s income is 80% of B’s expenditure. Find the ratio of A’s savings to B’s savings.
Given 0.75x=0.8y
Or 15x=116y
(A' s saving)/(B' s saving)=(0.8x-0.6y)/(16y/15-y)
=0.2y/(y/15)
=3/1
A merchant can buy goods at the rate of Rs 20 per good. The particular good is part of an overall collection and the value is linked to the number of items that are already in the market. So the merchant sells the first good for Rs 2 second one for Rs 4, third for Rs 6 and so on. If he wants to make an overall profit of atleast 60% then what is the minimum number of goods he should sell?
Let the no of goods be x
10 x x x 1.6 = 2+4+6+8+……. Upto x term
20 x x x 1.6 = x(x+1)
32x=x^2+x
X(x-31)=0
X=0,31
Subodh is an engineer and works in a Steel mill. At the end of the month he receives his salary and of this 32.5% has been deducted towards his credit card payments. His bad habits took him to a bar where while gambling, he lost Rs.10000 to his opponent. Of the rest he sent 20% of money to his family. Further the next morning he bought a bike worth Rs. 75000. He then realised that he was left with Rs.25000 from the salary. What is his monthly salary?
Let salry = x
ATQ
Alternate solution-
In such situation we must start solving from the end. As he has been left with Rs.25000 and he has spent Rs.75000 to purchase a bike. Total amount so far is Rs.100000.
∵ He has sent the 20% of the rest amount to his family and has been left with 80%, which is Rs.100000. Again he has lost 10000 in the gambling and hence total to this point is 135000(From the end).
Before this 32.5% of total salary has been deducted from his account towards his credit card payment and he is left with 67.5% part of his salary which is 135000.
Hence 100% of his salary will be Rs.200000.
During a journey Shalimaar express got delayed by 15 minutes and to make up for the delay it had to increase the speed by 12kmph for a distance of 60Km. Find the original speed of the of the train(in Kmph)?
Let the speed f the train is s kmph
60/(s+12)+15/60=60/s
60/s-60/(s+12)=1/4
S=48 kmph
